FAQ

Each lesson is 1.5 hours (or 3 hours for double lessons in the intensive course). Between lessons you are required to make homework and prepare for the next lesson. The time needed for this varies from person to person, but and estimate of 2 hours between lessons seems to be the average. More is always better! I also recommend practicing the real life situations that we do in class in your own environment. You will get personal feedback from me on all your homework assignments.

Yes you will get a certificate of participation at the end of the course. Official certificates or exams can only be obtained by taking part in a government exam for inburgering or staatsexamen. More information is below.

For me, a small group really should be a small group. That is why the group size is 4 to 6 people per group maximum. I keep the group this small to ensure enough speaking time for each student in class and to get a more personal experience. There will be a lot of direct feedback from me, which is important for learning.You should never be sitting still staring at others, my lessons are very interactive and you will have a lot of speaking action each time.

My lessons are focused on speaking, as I believe this is the best way to learn a language and is what most people need. We make time for some grammar explanation in each lesson as well, but a large portion of the lesson time is spent on practicing speaking and learning grammar that way. This does not mean that we just blabber without goals! Word order and making correct sentences from the beginning onwards are a focus point.

It is very important to me that the results of the course are good for everyone involved. The online courses have been very successful in terms of results and I am proud to say that my students reached the desired level (many have passed the inburgering exam). Because of the small groups, I am able to give you the same kind of attention that you would get in my live sessions (that also take place in a small group). During the online lessons, we are all very focused on keeping the flow, doing the same exercises as we would do in real life. This way I have been able to make my online sessions a true success. The beginners level is for everyone who is level A0 or A1. It is a good course if you are an absolute beginner, but it will also suit you if you already have some knowledge of Dutch, up to A1 level and are just not speaking it. If you are unsure about your level, please contact me via the form and we can arrange an intake to see where you are with your Dutch and what would be the best level to join.

The beginners course is designed as a complete course. In the beginning you will already get a lot of information about word order and how to construct sentences, that you will also need for the A2 part of the course. That's why it is important to take the whole course.

For inburgering, we always start with a language course up to level A2. The level B1 requirement is only for newcomers at the moment. After finishing the A2 course, you will have the right language level to do the language parts of the exam. KNM can easily be done with self-study after this.
